A Little History (and a lot of wine)
The idea of a book club didn’t originate with us—though we nerd out on the fact that they started as far back as 1634! Our inspiration came from years of being members of various groups, including our personal favourite, "Pinot and Paperbacks." To be honest, we usually drank the wine and never got around to the books! We've all been there, right?
The Rise of the Digital Community
When the world changed a few years ago, we saw a beautiful shift: businesses and communities moved online, and The Book Resort Book Club truly flourished. While traditional book clubs involve small groups in living rooms, our online platform allows us to host hundreds of members across Ireland and beyond.
It gives us a space to host discussions with ease, learn exactly what our members love, and provide a sense of belonging in a digital age. And yes—real-time, in-person events in Waterford and across Ireland are very much on the horizon for 2026!

Meeting and engaging with new people can be daunting, but a book club is a safe space to learn the art of healthy debate.
